Bodyshop / Restoration

We are equipped and skilled to undertake all bodywork and restoration projects on ancient or modern vehicles. We are particulary knowledgable of 50's, 60's and 70's English and European cars and we are very passionate about 50's, 60's and 70's American cars.

Our facilities include chassis, body and panelwork, rotisserie media blasting and low bake painting. We are "old school": we carry out repairs traditionally including lead filling, and if there is a part we cannot find, we make it.

Peugeot / Citroen Rear-Axle Refurbishment

Safedrive Services specialise in the repair / refurbishment of rear axles for all Peugeot / Citroen models with radius arm rear suspension.

  • Peugeot Models : 106, 205, 206, 305, 306, 309, 405, 406 and Partner Vans
  • Citroen Models: ZX, Saxo, Zara and C15 Vans / Campers

The collapse of rear radius arm bearings on Peugeot and Citroen vehicles is increasingly common with symptoms including loud knocking noises from the rear of the car, excessive wheel camber (lean) and wheels rubbing on body work whilst in motion. In some cases this can lead to complete failure of the rear torsion bar which can snap.

Safedrive Services have developed various methods of refurbishing the bearings. In the majority of cases the repair is carried out on the vehicle with no need to dismantle. The whole process can usually be completed in 24 hours and will require the vehicle to be left with us for this time. Due to the complexity of the axle setup and wide range of variables (ride height, torsion bar diameter, etc.) it is impossible to carry the range of replacement parts in stock. Therefore each vehicle is treated individually and all components are engineered on site using specialist materials and machining processes.

For customers living outside reasonable travel distance the axles can be removed from their vehicle and sent to us for refurbishment. We will return their original axle to them through recognised courier services at reasonable cost.

Prices start from as little as £200 with an average price of £275 for Peugeot 306.
